Porterville Strings Youth Orchestra 

Yearly Program Information 

2025-2026

TUITION STRUCTURE

Youth Orchestra Ensemble Fee (Required by all participants)

A yearly orchestra ensemble tuition fee of $150:

  1. The first semester payment of $75.00 is due upon registration; 
  2. The second semester payment of $75.00 is due January 17 .

 

Private Lessons Fee (Not Required-but highly encouraged)

Families who wish to enroll their student in private lessons through Porterville Strings commit to an additional private lesson fee of $125 per semester:

  1. The first lesson payment of $50.00 must be paid at the start of each semester. (required by all private lesson participants)
  2. The second lesson payment of $75.00 must be paid before the end of each semester:
    1. The second lesson fee can be paid directly at anytime during the semester; OR
    2. The second lesson fee can be waived only for students who have earned a scholarship towards private lessons through the Tulare County Symphony League
  • GENERAL STUDENT PROGRAMMING (FALL & SPRING SEMESTERS)
  • Large Ensemble Rehearsals (Split Levels)

Day: TUESDAY EVENINGS

Time: 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. 

Location: BARTLETT MIDDLE SCHOOL (MPR)

  • Small Groups (Sectionals / Studio Class)

 Day: SATURDAY MORNINGS (See Calendar)

Time: 10:30-11:30 AM

Location: BARTLETT MIDDLE SCHOOL (MPR/Various)

  • Private Lessons 

Students enrolled in private lessons through Porterville Strings will receive:

  1. A designated private lesson instructor;
  2. (10) private lessons per semester with the designated teacher;
    1. Lessons will be 45 minutes in length. 
  3. Lessons will generally be scheduled on Saturdays:
    1. Private lesson teachers will aim to teach each student during an assigned time block on Saturdays.
    2. Private lesson teachers will be provided contact information for parents and/or students to communicate private lesson scheduling and any make-up lessons.

Tulare County Symphony League Information

Dear String Students,

The Tulare County Symphony League offers scholarships to students taking private lessons for orchestral stringed instruments ~ violin, viola, cello, bass or harp. These scholarships are merit-based and meant to help offset the cost of the lessons with private teachers but they do not cover the FULL cost of the private lessons.

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please complete the information and the application form that must be completed and signed by you and your parent.

When completed it must be postmarked by Sept 8 and mailed via USPS to:
