Vandlgard nut is typically installed on a bolt using a standard wrench. Upon reaching a set torque level, the wrenching hex detaches from the cone nut. Once installed, the Vandlgard nut offers a smooth, tamper-resistant surface with consistent clamping force. To remove, thread on a second Vandlgard nut and twist off the hex. Then, remove the remaining conical nut. Install this nut in the inverted position, squeeze both nuts firmly with vise-grips, and remove them together. The original bolt remains undamaged and ready for reuse.
