Violinist Benjamin Hoffman has been heard across North America, Europe, and Asia as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster. Among other venues, he has performed in Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Musikverein in Vienna, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China, and the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. Although traveling and performing brings tremendous enjoyment and fulfilment to his life, Benjamin decided to continue giving concerts from the comfort of his living room via Zoom sometime around March 2020. Currently based in Los Angeles, he is a founding member of the Brightfeather Duo, a sonata partnership with pianist Irene Kim, and can be seen online leading the dynamic and innovative Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra in performances of large orchestral works such as Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 and Debussy’s La Mer without conductor. Benjamin has had the privilege of collaborating with many of the world’s foremost musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma, John Adams, Peter Oundjian, Jorja Fleezanis, and members of the Berlin Philharmonic. He has appeared in festivals such as Yellow Barn, Aspen, and Chamber Music Northwest, and is known for his dedication to a wide range of repertoire including numerous world premieres. Benjamin holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music and counts among his most important mentors Ani Kavafian, Alex Kerr, and Glenn Dicterow.
